Tin Man

Tin Man

Another tin man walking the streets

With a brain in his head and soles in his feet

It's not just the road he's walking on

It's each person the tin man meets

When he's aware it brings him down

With tears in his eyes he falls to the ground

No one is there to pick him up

He reaches for the bottle and says that's enough

Tin man your Creator's with you

He's doing all He can

To move within your heart

But all he knows is hollow inside

He's never been shown the heart of life

He never has chosen to deal with his pain

Just bury it deep don't let it surface again

Another tin man walking the streets

We found his heart let's teach him to sing

Beauty Will Come

Beauty Will Come

Long work days I've lost my mind

Carefully spendin' all my time

I'm fallin'

They said I was out of line

I said worry about yours I'll worry about mine

I'm fallin'

I try my best to keep the peace

I tell her I love her every week

I'm fallin'

But lately I'm especially weak

With all the violence recently

I'm fallin'

We must come together in this time

We must learn to see eye to eye

And beauty will come

Searchin' for the best in me

I'm taking my work seriously

I'm risin'

I can bridge the gap you'll see

With you I can do anything

I'm risin'

Old war I'd be fine if you passed like the dinosaurs

Black and white television

California

California

If your heart is solemn you've gotta see California

If your head is anxious just take the day trip to California

California, so wonderful

Each city's callin' out

Come dance with me in the sun

Up at mount Whitney

And down in Death Valley

Come feel me in the breeze

The icy Pacific

The pines in Humboldt

Waterfalls in Yosemite

Let's bring you back to life

Drivin' through Napa

And gettin' lost in Redwood

Snow is still fallin' in Mammoth

There's something about this place

Red House

Red House

White blank dove come teach me again

How to open up not just defend

Gardener on the ground how far can I go?

Between the several lines I'm getting to know

Betrayed old friend let's have a drink

The holes in Your hands forced me to think

I couldn't see what I'd done

An orchid seed over exposed to the sun

I can be better I'll start listening

Reattach the tether

We got lost in this war

Don't you remember the nights we stayed in?

Singing together, when each day I loved you more

I was headed up North when I got the call

From the little red house that changed it all

We could hear the trains comin' all night long

It was a constant reminder our love was strong

White blank dove come teach me again

How to open up not just defend

Gardener on the ground how far can I go?

Between the several lines I'm getting to know

Betrayed old friend let's have a drink

The holes in Your hands forced me to think

I couldn't see what I'd done

An orchid seed over exposed to the sun

I can be better I'll start listening

Reattach the tether

We got lost in this war

Don't you remember the nights we stayed in?

Singing together, when each day I loved you more

I was headed up North when I got the call

From the little red house that changed it all

We could hear the trains comin' all night long

It was a constant reminder our love was strong

Little Birds

Little Birds

It's kinda strange how we come together

But the sound of your voice has me wondering

How long you can stay

Little birds flyin' over head headed where they want

Singin' their song till someone comes along

You came to

Out from the dark that was tryin' to take you

But you made it through

And it took a couple hours

To see what was headed toward the light

An unforgettable sight

All I want is coffee in the afternoon

Sitting across from you

With angels, baby you're just fine

Will you be mine?

And the noise you make when you're thinking

Has got me thinking, where have you been?

When I was banking

Printing refunds and sending them out

You coulda been my home

And I wander where you were

Listening to some old broken heart I'm sure

And I can't know if it'll be forever

But with you it doesn't seem to matter

Little birds

Our First Talk

Our First Talk

Feelin' alive again

See your face when I close my eyes

When you're alone, do I cross your mind?

'Cause you're all over mine

Our first talk

Your head resting on that chair

You said you found a way back to sleep

Just like me

I pray you would come down here

I'm feelin' alive again

Just hopin' this would simply work

But when you're alone do I cross your mind?

'Cause you're all over mine

Our second talk

We decided to sing instead

Skinny love, can you make it to me?

Baby please

Colombo By Night

Colombo By Night

How you stay

In the back of my head

All this time

Always there when it feels dead

You and I

Could never grow apart

You're in my mind

Forever in my heart

Years go by I still love you more

Each day

My dreams are coming true with you

Call it fate

I just want to be with you

Call it luck of the draw

That you want me too

Forever young we fall

For each other

Perfectly strung

A masterpiece coming together

Colombo by night

You gave me your heart

Cold Bones

Cold Bones

This old man pasted to his boat

Tired wood barely keeping him afloat

Tied down the anchor he let go

On his good days he remembers how she spoke

I've seen you waiting

Honey it's through

Your cold bones staying

It's way past time you moved

He's drifting further from the coast

With cold months approaching

He'll need a little hope

But it's long gone

The shore's become a ghost

Bring You Home

Bring You Home

We sat in the water as long as we could

Sometimes pieces don't end up where they should

But your company keeps me intact

What if I was made to have your back?

When the war comes and the Winter settles

Won't you see where I'm headed?

I could bring you home

You followed close behind in your car

10 miles in traffic didn't seem so far

We laughed hard when he tried to cut you off

No amount of time could ever be enough

To Know You Now

To Know You Now

My dear I'm thinking of you now

Your eyes for the first time meeting mine

Your voice always taking me there

What I would do to know you now

It seems like too long I have waited here

And all that I've done wrong

I can see clear

It's time to stand

Stand up for you

I'll see you soon and I am ready to love you

In Your Bones

In Your Bones

There was a darkness telling me I couldn't sing

In pitch black I started to think

All these voices must be right

I have no control over my life

The piano it played it moved through the hall

I started to resent the absence of its' faults

Each note is slowly coming to me

In fear and confusion I sing

All these voices well they're switching sides

They know I'm listening for the light

The piano it played it moved through the hall

I started to respond to its subtle call

There is a song in your bones somewhere a structure of semitones there's a sight to see don't you believe?

If you're gonna try you will find

But the darkness trails close behind

I am calling you to the light

You're gonna make it it's way past time

The piano it played it moved through the hall

On the keys my hands stayed now you're singing along

Can't Find Peace

Can't Find Peace

Have you heard the news lately? We are fallin' short

Hundreds are dying each day all around the world

What is in your head and what is in your hands?

To pave a way out from this mess help us understand why we

Can't find peace why we won't agree

I've been trying to filter this violence out of me

Countless places and countless people facing terror

Moving homes and children alone in endless fear

And if you find peace come see you are in need

I want you to reconcile

Sea Level

Sea Level

The one mountain I couldn't climb

The fault in my step the thorn in my side

Blindly I stayed at sea level

A sit down place I was dining with the devil

He said everything out there will burn you up

Mm here's some wine let me fill your cup

I still remember the way it tastes

How anyone lives I am amazed

I am amazed by you

If I didn't have you now I'd be killin myself

Somewhere in the dark it'd be me or someone else

Take me higher I want to see

Would you change the world if we believed?

Blood red soil and heroin veins

How anyone lives I am amazed

This Fire

This Fire

My feet on the ground

The stars are close

My eyes adjust

Darkness exposed

Oh how you light this fire

You bring death back to life

Your walls came down

I laughed real hard

We're still hanging on

The pain isn't gone

Gracious wind I finally let you in

Lighten

Lighten

Do you still care about me though it is dark love?

With no words coming to lighten you up

In the stillness I am here

August came it's bittersweet

It's hard to bare we only have a couple weeks

One last trip to the canyon

Please tell me I meant as much as you did to me

And when your alone

fighting the things that make you hate yourself

Will you remember

My voice gently singing you back to health?

Here in the darkness we lighten
